Dr. Ohhira’s Essential Living Oils, A Vegan Alternative to Fish Oil!

Humans literally must have Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) in order to live. That’s why they’re called “essential.” Since our bodies cannot manufacture EFAs, we need to acquire them from food or supplements.*

Because they support nutrient absorption and membrane integrity of all the body’s cells, Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) influence the health and wellness of all major body systems and organs. Whole health benefits are achieved only by ingesting a very specific balanced ratio of polyunsaturated, unsaturated, and monounsaturated EFAs—namely Omegas-3, 6 and 9 in a ratio of 4:1:1.*

This balance is not always represented in common retail supplements. And the typical American diet tends to contain a very imbalanced ratio, with Omega-6 intake ranging from 15 to 25 times the intake of Omega-3. Through strategic supplementation, it is possible to maintain an appropriate 4:1:1 ratio, which in turn, promotes whole health.*

Fish oil and fatty fish are good sources of Omega-3, but many people are looking for alternative sources of EFAs, due to taste preference or vegan lifestyles. Dr. Ohhira’s Essential Living Oils provides that vegan alternative. Eight natural plant and seed oils are cold-pressed, extracted and prepared to provide a pure, undamaged form of plant-based “good fats” for optimum health.*

These “good fats” do hundreds of crucial jobs, from promoting normal hormonal balance to supporting cardiovascular health. They also support cellular membrane integrity, which affects EVERY organ and tissue in the human body. They’re truly essential to a whole health regimen

The Skinny on Essential Fatty Acids

    • Besides their role in building hormones, maintaining normal nervous system function and promoting effective but not over-expressed immune function, the good fats assure that cell membranes do their crucial job, which is to let the nutrients in and the wastes out.
    • Our processed foods are missing beneficial fats and, worse yet, are high in fats that have health-damaging effects.
    • Dr. Ohhira Essential Living Oils provide the beneficial fats in an ideal balance of Linolenic Acid (Omega-3), Linoleic Acid (Omega-6, especiallyGLA) and Oleic Acid (Omega-9).
    • Based on research by a renowned Japanese scientist, it was created from seeds and plants carefully selected for their unique nutritional properties. Only non-GMO plants and seeds are used.
    • Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are not only required for life, they must be ingested because our bodies cannot manufacture them.
    • Eight high-quality plants and seeds were scientifically selected by award-winning microbiologist, Dr. Iichiroh Ohhira, to provide important fatty acids that support optimal health to the cells that in turn build optimum organs and function.

They are carefully extracted to preserve the natural qualities and properties of the plants, resulting in the purest form of good fats and oils.

      • Rice Bran Oil From the plant Oryza sativa. A rich source of oryzanol known for support of hormone balance. Supports healthy cholesterol levels. Believed to be the most potent source of powerful tocotrienols.*
      • Borage Seed From the plant Borago officinalis. Supports anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic activities.*Richest plant source of the important regulating fat, GLA.
      • Sunflower Seed From the plant Helianthus annuus. Includes Omega-9 and some Omega-6. High in protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium and Vitamin E.
      • Avocado From the plant Persea Americana. Rich in Omega-9 (monounsaturated ? a key to the heart healthy Mediterranean diet), also Omega-6 and Omega-3. High in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, D and E.
      • Perilla Seed From the mint family, Perilla frutescens. High levels of Alpha-linolenic acid (Omega-3) prized for support of heart health and immune function. Richest plant source of ALA.
      • Flax Seed From the plant Linum usitatissimum. Source of Omega-3 as well as Omega-6 and Omega-9.Supports overall health and brain function.*
      • Green Tea Seed From the tea plant, Camillia sinensis. Supports antioxidant activity and combats stress damage.*
      • Olive From the plant Olea Europaea. Rich in Omega-9 (monounsaturated), some Omega-6 and protectivepolyphenols. High in Vitamins A, D, E and K (important to calcium going into bones rather than arteries).

The time consuming & expensive cold-press method of extracting oils is used to preserve the natural qualities and properties of the plant seeds so the consumer receives only the purest form of good oils available.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) are the 'good' fats our body requires but can't manufacture. The only way to acquire EFA is to consume them in foods and oral supplements.

Dr. Ohhira.s Essential Living Oils is a vegetarian source of EFA (Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9) found in linolenic, linoleic and oleic acids. The scientifically balanced ratio of Omega-3, -6 & -9 is 4:1:1. Dr. Ohhira.s Essential Living Oils is the richest plant-based source of GLA, ALA, EPA, DHA and Vitamin E. DEVELOPER OF PROBIOTIC OMX SUPPLEMENT

Dr. Iichiroh Ohhira, Ph.D, a distinguished professor and research scientist who has lectured at universities in Malaysia, Korea, and Japan, has authored or coauthored more than 20 scientific research studies on lactic acid bacteria.

Dr. Ohhira has conducted research studies at Kagawa Medical College in Japan and is a respected member of the Japanese Agricultural Chemistry Association and Japanese Microbiology Association. In addition, Dr. Ohhira is a member of the New York Academy of Science and serves as the technical advisor on agricultural and environmental issues to the government of Chegda, Suchuan, China.

Dr. Ohhira together with an eminent advisory professor and a team of distinguished research scientists at Okayama University in Japan, researched and developed a high-tech dietary supplement known as Probiotics OMX formulated to restore and maintain a healthy immune system and promote good health.

We know that antibiotics, one of the wonder drugs of the 20th century, have helped conquer many diseases that previously resulted in death or disablement. We now know, however, that antibiotics have limitations and their use and misuse has frequently led to ill health. There are also a number of viruses and bacteria that have developed partial or total resistance to some antibiotics.

Further, "wide-spectrum" antibiotics don't usually distinguish between the "good" and "bad" bacteria. They kill the good along with the bad bacteria and this indiscriminate killing of bacteria may be one of the worst side effects of using antibiotics.

The use of antibiotics inhibit the good bacteria along with the bad, thus permitting bad bacteria to invade the digestive tract and multiply in high numbers that disturb the delicate balance between the good and bad bacteria. This balance is also upset by:

  • the use of oral contraceptives,
  • steroids,
  • exposure to radiation through x-rays and radiation therapy,
  • excessive consumption of chlorinated water,
  • the consumption of refined sugars and other refined foods,
  • poor digestion,
  • poor elimination of waste,
  • stress and
  • an unhealthy diet.

Simply introducing friendly bacteria in large numbers will not resolve the situation because an unfavorable colonic condition has already been created. Such a condition is conducive to the proliferation of harmful bacteria.

After studying human health for decades, Dr. Ohhira has concluded that an important approach to good health is to remove the harmful bacteria from the colon by creating an exclusive condition (an acidic pH) that is only conducive for the proliferation of friendly bacteria. Dr. Ohhira further believes that unless the harmful bacteria are totally eradicated in a natural manner, good health cannot be established and maintained.

Dr. Ohhira developed the award-winning probiotic product called OMX Probiotics twelve plus that:

  • recolonizes the microflora in the digestive tract,
  • enhances the immune system, and
  • promotes good health.

The transient, combative TH 10 lactic acid bacteria may be the most important strain of bacteria in Dr. Ohhira's product because of its ability to kill and eliminate harmful bacteria found in the colon.

TH 10 also aids in the removal of toxins produced in the colon by the bad bacteria. After consumption, the TH 10 bacteria reside in the GI tract for an extended period of time where they flourish and coexist with the "colonizer" bacteria, like the lactobacillus and bifidobacteria strains that inhabit the intestinal walls and aid in digestion and the absorption of nutrients.

The Japanese Dairy and Food Association selected Dr. Ohhira probiotics OMX as the "Best Product" of 1991. OMX Probiotic also received the "International Best Alternative Medicine Gold Medal" from the Euro East West Intellect at the Global Health Manille '98, a World Congress and Exposition on Integrative Healing.  The Japanese Dairy and Food Association recognized Dr. Ohhira as  the "Scientist of the Year" and he is honored as being the developer of the E. faecalis TH 10 strain of bacteria.

During the five year production period, the creation of the four organic acids---acetic, formic, fumaric and lactic---are carefully monitored.  Daily inspections of Probiotic omx are conducted to determine the pH and nutrient levels of the fermentation product and to guard against contamination.  Inspections also assure compliance with stringent Japanese good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards. OMX Probiotic is analyzed by Japan Food Research Laboratories, which is authorized by the Japanese Government. Only when OMX Probiotic accumulates a scientifically preordained level of organic acids is the raw paste ready for encapsulation. The highly regarded Fuji Capsule Company Limited of Japan provides the high-tech encapsulation of the product.

Dr. Ohhira has developed a special outer capsule that permits OMX Probiotics to remain highly viable with a stable shelf life of more than five years when properly handled and stored. Unlike other probiotics, OMX probiotic contains 12 strains of friendly "live" lactic acid bacteria (number in the hundreds of millions), vitamins, minerals, amino acids, organic acids and important natural by-products.

When OMX Probiotics twelve plus is encapsulated the product is guaranteed to contain those "listed" nutrients, although the actual levels of vitamins, minerals and amino acids may vary slightly among batches due to the natural variation of ingredients.

We stock the professional line of OMX probiotics. These OMX probiotics have been fermented for 5 years instead of three. The OMX probiotics twelve plus professional formula also contain more robust organic acids which modify the pH of the colon allowing for greater cohesion and proliferation of the LAB strains. People with severely compromised immune systems or GI tract health conditions receive benefit from this. Due to their dysbiosis the imbalance of micro-flora and colonic pH in the colon causes fewer colonies of friendly flora and organic acids, creating an environment which is highly alkaline and containing a high number of harmful bacteria and other detrimental microorganisms.
